Q: It seems that my ANSYS session freezes or hangs when I click on my Output Window on Microsoft Windows.
A: One possible reason it may seem that your ANSYS session 'locks up' is because your Output Window may be in "QuickEdit" mode. The Output Window, as you may know, is a DOS command prompt.
On any Windows system, if you have "QuickEdit" mode enabled in your DOS command prompt, clicking on the DOS window makes you select text. Upon doing so, Windows thinks you want to cut/copy/paste the DOS window, so it freezes the ANSYS process, waiting for you to select text.
If you right-click on the title bar of the ANSYS Output Window and select "Defaults" (or "Properties"), you can see if "QuickEdit" mode is enabled. If it is, you can toggle "QuickEdit" mode off, so an accidental click on the Output Window will not 'freeze' ANSYS (you can do this on a 'global' setting or only for the ANSYS Output window by selecting "Properties" and, after making changes, "Save properties for future windows with same title").
